PTC Creo 2.0 introduced a new feature known as Order Independent Transparency (OIT) which can be used when viewing PTC Creo assemblies.  This feature was originally available for AMD graphics boards, and not supported on NVIDIA GPUs.  Here’s the latest update from PTC …

According to Brian Thompson, Vice President, PTC Creo Product Management at PTC … “PTC plans to support Order Independent Transparency (OIT) in PTC Creo 2.0 for NVIDIA GPUs — targeted for a PTC Creo 2.0 Maintenance release in the second half of calendar 2013.”

OIT makes transparent materials look more realistic. No longer will you see artifacts in your transparency. Performance is notably faster as well since the hardware is doing the work instead of the software trying emulate the transparency effects.  So NVIDIA users, get ready for some awesome transparency effects.

Here’s a picture to show you how great it will look in PTC Creo 2.0 with NVIDIA hardware.
